I learned that Twitter can be used for so many different things: to find jobs, brand yourself, brand your company, brand a company you work for, connect with people, share ideas, photos, stories, fashion and the list goes on. Personally, Twitter doesn’t do much for me because I don’t have something to brand. I definitely agree that Twitter is great to help brand your company. I sew and knit and have been working on projects, so I see Twitter as a very useful online platform to post pictures of my designs to get my brand out to many people. Until I have something interesting and useful to my brand to post, I won’t be using Twitter. (more…)

The video titled Eating up jobs is a good example of a short video because this video has a good interview with someone who switched careers to culinary school and she is explaining why. It shows students cooking and yummy food! The reporter interviews someone who successfully got hired at a top restaurant-which shows that culinary students can do it!
The video Mom get child support after 30 years is very emotional. There are many close ups of her, crying, which makes the viewer feel her emotion. I also think showing a photo of the ladies daughters brings a sense of realness to the video and something a lot of moms can relate to.
I think the video Women entrepreneurs find growth is something a lot of people can relate to. The lady being interviewed in shown with a circle of children around her as she explains the benefits to growing vegetables. The entrepreneur in this video used to be in PR but traded in her office job for the “farm.” I like how down to earth the video is and how it relates to many civilians.
The bond a grandma and her granddaughter have is undeniable. My grandma babysat and raised me from the time I was born, helped me dress my Barbies and got me my first easy bake oven. I thought that I was a chef who could turn any kind of ingredients into an edible dinner. The bond my grandma and I share may soon be coming to an end because she is not doing well and took a turn for the worse over Mother’s Day weekend. I wanted to do something special for her, something that took thought. Her favorite dessert is cheesecake, so I made her a peanut butter cheesecake swirl. Check out my SoundSlides project!
For my project I made a peanut butter swirl cheesecake for my grandmother and I am showing the steps to making the cheesecake. I did a voiceover for the slides because I want to be able to show this to my grandma, since she is close to passing away and this will be very touching for her to watch and listen to. I talked about our close bond and how I wanted to do something special for her. Since she has a sweet tooth I thought it would be great if I made her, her favorite dessert which is cheesecake.
a. My grandma doesn’t have much time left and so I wanted to make her something special that she can enjoy. Her favorite dessert is cheesecake, so I made her a peanut butter swirl cheesecake. I did a voice over because I wanted to explain my relationship with my grandma and then have a final story to show her.
b. I think I met my goals fine, but I think that being a visual storyteller is a lot harder than it looks! If I had a chance to redo this assignment I would have liked to get a sound clip from my grandma, but due to her health, she was not able to do it.
A) My visual story shows the steps to making my mom a Mother’s Day cheesecake. I wanted to get crisp shots that showed how I made my mom the cheesecake. Not only did I want this to be for my photo story, but I wanted something that my mom can look at forever! The cheesecake was eaten, but she can always look at the story behind the making of the peanut butter swirl cheesecake! It was challenging to get shots of the whole cooking process, and I thought I might not get a shot of my mom eating her cheesecake but in the end, it all came together!
B) I was happy with all the shots I used for the photo story and am glad I was able to see my mom on Mother’s Day, because initially I wasn’t going to be able to. The cheesecake was hard to make! So if I was to redo this project, I would have picked something easier to bake! What I learned doing this project is that it is very hard to take shots that tell a story. I wish I would have wrote out what shots I would need for the story, instead of just starting to take photos. Because after I got start making the cheesecake, I was having a challenging time deciding what pictures would be best.
